Pugs

Just brought this picture from Gemma Correll. It really made me laugh so I just had to buy it.

This week has been a bit sparse on the old blog. Truth be told I am feeling a little flat and low at the moment. I am however going to London for a few days for an inspiration/ shopping trip. I’m really looking forward to it, I need lots of new fresh ideas for a big push with the freelance work. I gave myself till August to make this work,  and thats only 5 months away! gulp!

Have a good week!

Alison Carmichael

Following the path of offensive posts which have swearing in (sorry mum), I couldn’t resist posting about this from Alison Carmichael.

Its true, words do look much nicer when they are hand lettered. She has more gorgeous hand lettered typography on her website, well worth checking out. I promise tomorrow, no more swearing.

Al Murphy

I love these illustrations by Al Murphy.

You can see more of his work here.

Office

I’ll be honest, my working environment isn’t the best.

I live is central Manchester in a one bedroom flat. It was great when both the fiance and I went out of the house each day to work. When the fiance went freelance we set up a computer desk etc in the living room which was fine. Then I decided I was going to go freelance and now we have two desks, next to each other in the living room. I mean our living room is big, but its not that big. I have started daydreaming about my office when we finally move out of here. I want bright colours, lots of boxes (I love boxes), boards for inspiration and printed stuff everywhere. Oh one day my dream will come true. :)

New York Fashion Week.

Sorry for the lack of posts recently.

I have been suffering with a cold, I am hoping that this is the last one of the winter. I did a craft fair at the weekend. I had some rally good feedback and my stall looked really good. The sales were a bit poor but apparently that was to be expected in February . I have also started reading the Graphic Artists handbook to pricing and ethical guidelines which is really good. I encourage anyone who is starting out freelance to read this as it has been really helpful to me. Its hard going but worthwhile.

Ok, so New York Fashion week.

Usually I am hooked on all the shows, watching each one is detail but not many have really caught my attention so far. My favorites have been  Marc Jacob’s, Charlotte Ronson and Rebecca Taylor (which I found it really hard to pick out my favorite looks for the blog). I cant see much print direction at the moment but I am sure that will pick up.

Ps. The Independent on sunday magazine features a sneaky look at the greatly anticipated Print Pattern Book.
