Charlotte Taylor

I have been an avid reader of Charlotte Taylor’s blog for some time, following her as she has prepares to launch her first collection at London’s Fashion Week.

Inspired by penguins, grannies and old soap operas this always promised to be an exciting collection. I have just looked through the  images of Charlottes collection online and IT IS GORGEOUS. The penguin print adds a flash of colour  to the navy, cream and tweed base and the cut of the clothes evokes elegance and femininity. I want it all! I am praying to the buying gods that be to please buy this collection, because I want to own it all.

Matthew Williamson

Matthew Williamson is always the highlight of London Fashion week for me.

I have always loved his work, ever since I saw his Electric Angels collection in 1997.

I was so desperate to own something from it that I printed out every look from the collection and started a Matthew Williamson sketchbook. I love his use of colour and his prints continue to inspire me everyday. I read recently that he is working on a book that will be out towards the end of the year, I’m glad my sketchbook can be updated to an actual book.

Topshop Unique

London fashion week has reignited my passion for fashion week all over again.

After the lull of New York, London hits hard with some amazing collections. The one that I am totally in love with is Topshop Unique. I love every part of that show. The cable knit over the knee socks, the duffle-esque coats, the knits and the amazing head pieces designed by Emma Cook. I see a woodland themed print , this show has inspired me so much.

New York Fashion Week.

Sorry for the lack of posts recently.

I have been suffering with a cold, I am hoping that this is the last one of the winter. I did a craft fair at the weekend. I had some rally good feedback and my stall looked really good. The sales were a bit poor but apparently that was to be expected in February . I have also started reading the Graphic Artists handbook to pricing and ethical guidelines which is really good. I encourage anyone who is starting out freelance to read this as it has been really helpful to me. Its hard going but worthwhile.

Ok, so New York Fashion week.

Usually I am hooked on all the shows, watching each one is detail but not many have really caught my attention so far. My favorites have been  Marc Jacob’s, Charlotte Ronson and Rebecca Taylor (which I found it really hard to pick out my favorite looks for the blog). I cant see much print direction at the moment but I am sure that will pick up.

Ps. The Independent on sunday magazine features a sneaky look at the greatly anticipated Print Pattern Book.
